City Partner Historik Hotel “Alter Speicher” Wismar is awarded a TOP 500 – Hotel in Germany…

The letter that was sent to family Preuss in early June started with the following words: “Your hotel has been tested anonymously and suggested to be taken into the ranking ‘Germany’s Top 500 Hotels’.”

The award “Members of Germany’s Top 500” is preserved for 500 houses in Germany, which can offer a relation between service, quality, and price, that is above average.

Besides the certificate, that now decorates the hall in youth style, every guest can check on the awarded hotels on the internet: http://www.top500hotels.de

As an additional option, each of the awarded hotels can apply for a special category to be listed in the top 100 ranking in the case of success. For our hotel this concerns the category ‘City’.

So, the team of Svenja and Norbert Preuss is happy about the fact that their work for the guest was recognized. In the future, we will of course continue to offer our guests an unforgettable stay in our hotel.

Change of the generations in City Partner Historik Hotel “Alter Speicher” in Wismar

On 1 January 2007 the day had come: without further ado, the owner of City Partner Hotel “Alter Speicher” Wismar, Jürgen Lentz, lay the responsibility for the business (Hotel and real estate) into the hands of his daughter Svenja and her husband Norbert Preuss.
In 1992, Lentz and his wife Birgit had redesigned and renovated the landmarked objects. With love for the detail, both of them opened a hotel with a restaurant for specialties in the beginning of the year 1993. Since then the house has become one of the most appreciated hotels in Wismar.

After the sudden passing away of Misses Birgit Lentz in 2005, Mister Lentz gave more responsibility to the younger generation. “It is now the time”, said Jürgen Lentz, “to let the younger generation take over the steering wheel. Of course, I will be available at any time if my opinion or help is asked, because we are and we remain a family enterprise and we want to successfully develop it further.”

The principle house, the hotel “Alter Speicher Lübeck” – existing since 1982 – will continue to be managed by – now senior – Jürgen Lentz.

The Preuss couple is, however, not inexperienced. Svenja Preuss (born Lentz), with a professional education in the hotel sector, and the business economist Norbert Preuss joined the enterprise in early 1999, and started to get work experience in all positions of the management. The respective focus was put by the former managers: Their daughter worked in the restaurant and banquet sections; her husband worked in the management section, with a focus on reception. As with every other couple, the limits of each one’s responsibilities melted – only in that way an enterprise can be leaded successfully, as was shown by their predecessors. An official occasion for the taking over is planned for March, hen this act is to be celebrated once again.

The new generation, as the old one did, stands for gastronomy and hotel management that can counts as a honorable part of Wismar and that is meant to welcome guest from all over the world. Even the next generation is already waiting: the littler daughter, Shirley, aged 18 months, gets sparkling eyes when she is taken into the hotel.
